Making Your Digital Book: Step 1

The process of making a digital book is lengthy and involves a lot of thought and creativity.  On our last assignment we looked at examples from a Grade 1 & 2 classroom.  Today, I have shown you some "Model Books" to help trigger your thought process on creating your own digital book.  Model books are books that give us an example to look at for ideas and expertise.  We cannot copy characters, character names, titles, etc., as that would be what we call "Breaching Copyright".  Your assignment today is the following:

1.  After looking at the model books I have selected, pick one that you like most for the style of writing.  Is it a Question & Answer book? Is it a short story like the Pigeon books? Do you like the style of "I Wish You More" most?

If there isn't a model book that you like from my selection, do you have a book in mind?

Tell me which book you pick to be your model book and why.  Explain with detail, please.  Minimum 4 full sentences.

Good luck!

Welcome to our blog, Grade 7&8! I am looking forward to having a blog and using it as a way to keep in touch and share new ideas as well as share some of the work that we do!  Our first big assignment is going to be to create a "Digital Book."  I have included some links of examples that Mrs. Obach's Grade 1 class did.  I feel like this will be a fun & engaging project as you can make it your own and it can actually be published if you wish!

There are 3 ways you can make a digital book...

1.  Take your own photos and add the writing.

Is This A Ball?

2.  Draw the pictures and add the text digitally.

The Pigeon Finds A Girlfriend

3.  Use Non-Copyright images you find online and add text.

Is This A Polar Bear?

Take a look at these 3 books and see which one interests you the most.  Remember these are just examples, the story line isn't set in stone.  I want you to pay attention to the way the book looks with the images and text.  Your job is to...
1. Pick one Digital Book and tell me 3 positive things that you notice.
2. Pick a style of book that you would like to create and tell me why.

You can do this by commenting in the comment section at the bottom!  Have fun :)
